We've Got The County Covered

Darryl Worley to Headline Blaine County Fair. Kids Rodeo Scheduled for Sunday

The Blaine County Fair Board continues to work hard to bring the best entertainment to the Blaine County Fair as they possibly can. Recently the Fair Board made a significant announcement regarding the Blaine County Saturday night main draw. Country music superstar, Darryl Worley will perform Saturday night during the 2023 Blaine County Fair. The fair will run from Thursday, August 10 through Sunday, August 13.

Fair Board Manager, Debbie Ramberg addressed the boards decision on this years schedule adjustment, including the ever popular Demolition Derby being removed from the schedule, "When Scott (Skoyen) retired from the derby, and for various other reasons that the Board have already mentioned, we decided to bring in a concert." Ramberg went on to say, "We worked with an entertainment manager out of Kalispell. We got a list of entertainers and picked a few from the list and did a survey on Facebook. Then we went with the most popular pick from that survey (Darryl Worley). We then had to wait and see if he accepted our contract, as you can see he accepted and will be here for the fair."

Worley is a highly accomplished artist and has released six albums that have produced 18 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. This list includes three number one singles, 'I Miss My Friend', 'Have You Forgotten', and 'Awful Beautiful Life'. 'Have You Forgotten' spent seven weeks at number one and nine other singles have reached the top 40.

Ramberg and the Board were not done, "We knew we needed more than just him so I reached out to Frank English for an opening act. He gave me several names and I reached out to Cole Kleinert, a farmer from Sunburst.

"Cole Kleinert from CK & the Slow Riders will be opening Saturday night at 7:00 pm and The Milk River Band will keep the party going in the beer gardens after Darryl Worley," stated Ramberg.

The Fair line up now includes three action packed night of rodeos and a great night of music. The Bear Paw Round Up PRCA Rodeo has been filling the grandstands for years and will have two feature performances. The Bear Paw Round Up always puts on a great show with some of the top talent in the world always finding their way to the Blaine County Fairgrounds. The PRCA rodeos are set for Thursday and Friday night during this year's Blaine County Fair.

For many years the Kids Rodeo opened the Blaine County Fair, getting underway about 4:00 pm in the afternoon on Wednesday and running into the morning hours of Thursday. Change again was required when the Bell family decided that after years of helping with or managing the kids rodeo it was time to hand off the reigns to someone else.

"The Bell family took over the kids rodeo from Courtney's parents a few years ago. When she decided to be done with the kids rodeo we put it on Facebook and had a few people step up to take over. Meagan Raty, with help from other volunteers, will be managing the kids rodeo and for the first time it will be held on Sunday," stated Ramberg.

As always there will be plenty of stuff to take in with all the 4-H and Open Exhibits on display. The Livestock and horse shows are always a big hit and the Livestock is a big day for many future producers to get paid for their efforts. The midway will again be a place to find some fun as well, "We will have the same carnival as last year with free rides except for the Bungee Trampoline, Battle Balls and games. We will also have a Stunt Jump, 25 foot Rock Wall and The Dizzy X Maze from Montana Premiere Events out of Billings and they will also be free," concluded Ramberg. Word is you might also be able to see the ever popular Pippi the Clown as well.
