We've Got The County Covered
The Chinook Eagles and the Pastime Lounge came together this past Saturday to host the Montana State 8-Ball Pool Tournament. The tournament featured a double elimination format.
In all, 108 shooters converged on the small town of Chinook to form 12 men's and four women's teams. Each team consisted of six members and represented communities from Billings, Kalispell, Missoula, Lewistown, Chinook and Havre.
Players came from all over the state to make up those teams with shooters from Harlem, Malta, Hays, Rocky Boy and Helena included in the mix said event organizer, Dave Azure.
The tournament got started bright and early Saturday morning at 10 am. "We had five tables set up here at the Eagles and three more at the Pastime for the early rounds," said Azure. "The Championship matches, and consolation final were both played at the Eagles."
Play went well throughout the day and things went pretty smoothly, "It was a good time, everybody had fun, got along and enjoyed plenty of good food and drinks," added Azure. "Our local teams did good, the team I was on tied for fifth, but it was fun. The Chinook Women's team took home third though, so that was nice."
The Chinook Women's third place team included Jolyn Scarpolt, Karyn Higgins, Dawn Fitzpatrick, Julia Hofer, Lanie Jorgenson and Marcia Thompson.
The top men's and women's teams were both from Havre. After a long day of pool the final ball was pocketed just before midnight when the champions were crowned.
