We've Got The County Covered

Dawnita "Scamp" Mount

ade her journey on March 26th, 2023 at her home at Tom Mount Sr.'s Cow Camp, located on the foothills of the Little Rockies in Hays, MT. There was no other place that she'd rather be than with her children, Cow Camp, or with loved ones.

Dawnita was born to Annie K. Mount & the late Cordell Small on June 20th, 1981. From then on she was raised by her mother Annie and her late grandfather Tom Mount Sr. who had given her the nickname "Scamp," which she would become best known by. She was also fathered by many uncles and her step-father, Gerald Main Jr. She descends from the Skinner-BadRoad Families, Mount Family, & Woodenleg-Small Families.

Scamp attended the Hays LodgePole & Mission Grade Schools where she is remembered for her kindness and curly and well kept hair. She eventually went on to obtain her GED in 1999, the same year her first child was born. From there on she went on to get her certificate in Forestry Management. Not too long after, she returned home to Hays and worked as a Co-Teacher at the Hays Head Start. Throughout her life she was considered a Jack of all trades, due to her ability to cook, clean, tend to children, mechanic, caretake, and lend a hand whenever it was needed and necessary. Her kindness and willingness to help was notable. She always had a smile on her face or a laugh to make, regardless of how hard of a time she may have been having.

Throughout her life she was blessed with six beautiful children and four grandchildren, all of whom were what she considered to be her pride and joy. She always had good things to say about them and longed to spend time with them whenever her free spirit and God would allow. Of the many things she enjoyed, one that is notable would be the Sundance Ceremony that happened almost annually. Her reason for enjoying it so much being that it would fall on her Birthday, which she held special because of the way it would make her feel proud and blessed. She also enjoyed dancing and singing along to a good tune or having a good time whenever her heart desired. The outdoors meant as much to her as helping people. Sunsets and the sky always caught her eye.

Throughout her journey on earth, she met and touched the hearts of many good friend, relatives, and adopted siblings. She was loved by many and she knew it. And through those friendships she developed many good stories and memories. All of which we will forever cherish and hold near and dear to our hearts, and remember them just as we remember that golden smile that she would always have and leave a person with.
