May is “Get Caught Reading” month. Elle has put together a variety of books for the display table, to help you get caught reading. It is also Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage month. Elle has a display of books to celebrate that as well.
We have two new movies ready for check out this week. Jesus Revolution is based on a true story. 80 For Brady is also based on a true story of friendship and adventure.
We have one non-fiction book this week. “A Fever in the Heartland: The Ku Klux Klan’s Plot to Take Over America, and the Woman Who Stopped Them” by Timothy Egan is the riveting story of the Klan’s rise to power in the 1920s, the cunning con man who drove that rise, and the woman who stopped them.
New fiction this week includes several of our patron’s favorite authors.” The 23rd Midnight” by James Patterson is the latest Women’s Murder Club novel. “The Only Survivors” by Megan Miranda is a thrilling mystery about a group of former classmates who reunite to mark the tenth anniversary of a tragic accident—only to have one of the survivors disappear, casting fear and suspicion on the original tragedy. “Small Mercies” by Dennis Lehane is a tale of revenge, family love, festering hate, and insidious power, set against one of the most tumultuous episodes in Boston’s history. Letty Davenport, the tough-as-nails adopted daughter of Lucas Davenport, takes on an undercover assignment that brings her across the country and into the crosshairs of a dangerous group of hackers in “Dark Angel” by John Sandford.
Regular programs have concluded for the school year. We will be doing school visits this week. Then we will be preparing for the Summer Reading Program. Parents be on the lookout for a neon green paper with the schedule for our Summer Reading Program. We’ll have more information on that next week.
We are excited to welcome Emily Scofield to our team, just in time to start the Summer Reading Program! Emily will be the new Assistant Librarian. She will be taking over the programing at the library and she has lots of great ideas, so be on the lookout for new things.
