Joann Arlene Mork

JoAnn Arlene Mork was born April 15, 1943 to Arthur and Nora (Spicher) Mork in Havre Montana. She passed away on May 14, 2023. JoAnn grew up on the family farm seven miles north of Havre where she learned the value of hard work. JoAnn was always an outdoor person. She and her sister, Judy, worked hard on the farm raising cattle and farming the land with their dad. She and her siblings were involved in 4-H and always had a club calf. Her greatest time was riding the milk cow calves out of the barn. Until one time she got bucked off, hit her head, and got a concussion. Her mother said, "That's it! You're coming to the house to learn to cook!" But that didn't last long. After graduating from High School in Havre she joined the Marine Corp and was stationed in Paris Island, North Carolina. It was quite a change for this Montana girl but she made many friends while there. After her honorable discharge from the Marines she came back to Havre and worked for the Federal Crop Insurance. A friend introduced her to Doug and in December 1966 they were married which lasted 56 1/2 years. In April 1967 Doug and JoAnn moved to the ranch 10 miles south of Cleveland. It was there that Dennis, Dan and Daryl were born. The boys were very busy but the joy of her life. JoAnn worked hard outside, whether it was swathing hay riding horses she truly loved it all. She was a 4-H leader for 18 years and a member of the North Central Cowbelles. JoAnn loved springtime the new calves, baby chicks and planting her garden were important to her.
