Kenneth "Kim" Mark Hansen, 71, passed away June 10, 2023, of natural causes. He was born October 15, 1951, in Havre, MT to Kenny and Elsie (Klungland) Hansen of Harlem, MT and was the oldest of three children. Kim attend school in Harlem and graduated from Harlem High School in 1971.
On June 23, 1973, he married the love of his life, Ann Burkhartsmeyer and lived on the farm south of Harlem before moving to Harlem. Together they had two children, Jessica and Julie.
He spent his life farming and ranching with his brothers Kurt and Kraig. Kim was very proud to continue the stewardship of the land that his grandfather Knute and father Kenny had begun.
Kim was a dedicated member of the community. From the ambulance crew and fire department to numerous boards and committees, Kim volunteered and served with diligence and pride. As a public servant Kim spent eight years on the Harlem City Council and two years as Mayor of Harlem.
Kim served in the Montana State Senate for eight years. As senator, he always kept his constituents and community in mind. He was proud of his time in Helena and enjoyed the relationships made both in and out of the senate chambers. A moment of pride for Kim was when he was asked to introduce the 42nd president of the United States of America, Bill Clinton, during a rally at MSU-Northern.
He is survived by his daughter Jessica (Kevin) Aberg of Chinook, brothers Kurtis (Ginger) Hansen of Chinook and Kraig (Renella) Hansen of Chinook. His beloved grandchildren Amalie and Mason Aberg of Chinook. Nieces and nephews Cindy Ku of San Antonio, TX, Kent (Jenna) Hansen of Aberdeen, SD, Kevin (Kimberly) Hansen of Hilger, MT, Rachel (Johnny) Thompson of Brownsville, TX, and Clinton (Marija) Hansen of Chinook, MT, and many aunts, uncles, family, and friends.
Kim is preceded in death by his parents Kenny and Elsie Hansen, wife Ann Hansen, daughter Julie Hansen, nephew Eric Hansen, and sister-in-law Adele (Hedstrom) Hansen.
Funeral services were held at Harlem High School at 11:00 on Saturday June 17, 2023, with reception to follow. The burial will took place at the Kuper Memorial Cemetery in Chinook, MT following the reception. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Lutheran Church of Harlem or of your choosing. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilderness Funeral Home of Chinook.
