We've Got The County Covered
Kenneth R Finley, 77, passed away March 15th, 2023 of natural causes. He was born March 31, 1946 in Havre MT to Ray and Isabel (Feist) Finley. Ken was the middle child of three. He graduated Chinook High School in 1964 and joined the Air Force.
He left the Air Force in 1969 and moved back to Chinook and farmed with his brother Vic. After that he had many jobs over the years but always had time to farm. Most of these jobs involved his passion for fixing things. At these jobs he met many lifelong friends. Those friends always looked forward to coffee in the morning and the days he was downtown selling his fresh cantaloup and various vegetables. At the age of 74 he decided that cantaloup and vegetables were just too much work but he still wanted to support the community, so he decided he would focus on the pumpkin patch.
Ken married Sandi Hermes and had three sons - Jim, Scott and Jeff. During that time, he traveled to many wrestling matches, baseball games and bowling tournaments with the boys.
Later in life he met and married Rose Eich and that union added two step-daughters to the family – Sarah and Rachel. Tending the garden was their way of sharing his love of growing and her love of cooking. Both of these loves brought the families together.
He is survived by his brother Vic (Betty) Finley, niece Joanne Chapman, his sons Jim (Maureen) Finley, Scott Finley, Jeff (Lynette) Finley and their mother Sandi Finley. Dear friend Colleen Anderson. Step-daughters Sarah Haney and Rachel Smiley. The grandkids: Addison, Paige, Sadie, Elizabeth, Olivia, Logan, Julius, Eleanor. Great grandkids: Taylyn, Ryder and Tobias.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents Ray and Isabel Finley, brother Joey Finley, niece Dana Finley, wife Rose Finley, grandson Payton.
A memorial for Kenny will be held June 24, 2023 at The Pumpkin Patch at 3:00 pm with refreshments to follow at the Chinook Senior Center.
