Theater Camps Available for Area Youth

This past week, June 26-29, Montana Actors’ Theatre (MAT) has been hosting a local KidsMAT youth summer camp in Chinook at Sweet Memorial Park. Additional camp opportunities for area adolescents will be available in Harlem or Havre from July 10-13.

KidsMAT is a unique performing arts summer camp experience for children ages 5-15. While attending camp, these youth not only practice essential teamwork and leadership skills but learn all aspects of theatre production, including story and script development, acting, costuming, and technical aspects.

Campers attend sessions on Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. each day. The camp experience will culminate in a short production on Thursday evening at 7:00. Harlem’s camp will take place in Harlem High School’s Little Gym, while Havre’s experience will take place at the MAT Theater on the campus of Montana State University–Northern.

Although snacks will be provided, children are asked to bring a sack lunch each day. Camp fees include a t-shirt and water bottle, and scholarships are available.
