We've Got The County Covered
The Chinook Sugarbeeters are bringing back their Football Camp for the first time since 2019. The Day Camp will be held August 1-3, 8:30-11:00 am daily. The ‘Beeter Football Team will be hosting the ‘Fundamental Skills Camp’ for athletes Grade 4-8. The three-day camp instructors will be the ‘Beeter Coaching Staff as well as players. The camp will focus on Technique, Speed and Strength training. Cost for the camp is $40 and includes a camp T-shirt.
“We are putting this on like we have done in the past pre-covid. This is a good chance for the elementary kids to get excited about playing in the future. This also allows us to help our local elementary kids build the foundations of overall athleticism for their future,” stated ‘Beeter Head Coach, Mike Jones.
Campers will need to bring cleats, or athletic shoes that can be used outside. Athletic shorts and shirt as well as a water bottle. Water will be provided at the facility. Registration forms are located at the Chinook High School Office. Call Coach Jones at (406) 781-0786 or email him at Jonesmi@chinookschools.org.
Jones went on to say, “We will have our high school and junior high coaches as well as our high school players. I think it is great for the young kids seeing and working with them. I think that creates an excitement for the future and we all know the elementary kids look up to the high school kids.”
The Sugarbeeters have had plenty of success since moving to Class C 8 Man Football. The program has won two State Championships to go along with third place finishes and many playoff appearances. That success comes from putting in a lot of work in the gym and on the field outside of the season. “We are going to work on a lot of fundamentals for different positions, also gonna work on some speed stuff and footwork. Also, we are going to do some flag football games for the players so that they get a chance to play in some game like situations,” concluded Jones.
