Harlem varsity boys, led by freshman Branlin Foote’s second-place time of 17 minutes and 47.31 seconds, placed fifth among the 14-team field at the Wolf Point Cross Country Meet on Friday.
Also contributing to the team score of 122 were: Lathan Blackwolf; 26th in a time of 24:07.39; Shayne Stiffarm, 29th in 25:44.25; Kelbi Bigby, 30th in 25:51.27; Romeo Main, 36th in 28:41.08, and Carter Lawrence, 38th, in 30:24.44.
Poplar won the varsity boys title with 35 points, followed by Trinity Christian of Williston with 46, Plentywood with 81 and Scobey with 98.
The Lady Wildcat varsity’s lone entrant, Lillian Horseman, finished 31st in 31:53.21. Five runners are required for a school to score team points.
Middle School girls took 6th with a score of 152.
Trinity Walker finished 3rd overall with a time of 10 minutes and 20.46 seconds. Helping secure the team’s top-five spot were Syrena Blackwolf, 31st, in 12:22.51; Kaci Boushie, 38th in 12:43.24; J’Lynn Morgan, 39th, in 12:51.12; and Layla Clark, 41st, in 12:57.12.
Harlem’s Ethan Walker took first over the middle school course in 8 minutes and 31.1 seconds. Also scoring points for the team were 32nd, Kiecyn Main in 11:27.7; 37th, Xander Young in 11:51.0, and 62nd overall, Lucas Blackcrow in 14:34.
Next up for the Harlem High harriers are the Kalispell/Flathead Invitational on Friday, with the time to be announced, and a meet in Poplar on Saturday slated to begin at 10 a.m.
