The Thunderbird roster included three girls and one boy.

The Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds hosted this week’s high school cross country meet in beautiful Mission Canyon. The Chinook Sugarbeeters and Harlem Wildcats joined the Thunderbirds on the course along with a number of other teams. No official scores were presented to the Journal prior to press time. Hays/Lodge Pole Athletic Director had these comments on the meet, “It was a perfect fall day. Many compliments. Approximately 85-90 runners. We gave medals for the top 10 places in all categories. A lot of the kids said it was such a beautiful course and so much fun to run through the canyon.”

Chinook Head Coach, Kendall Hardwood felt confident that the ‘Beeter girls won but without official results one can’t say. Harwood made these comments after the meet had concluded, “The meet in Hays was a beautiful one. The fall colors in the canyon made for a memorable meet for the ‘Beeter Cross Country team. The course was 5 kilometers uphill most of the way. Neva Lowe won the race by about 3 minutes. Carson (Nissan) had a great race and is feeling like he’s getting into racing shape. Corey Bilger finished close behind Carson. Evan Hofeldt is really coming on strong at the mid-point of the season. He keeps improving with every race.
