We've Got The County Covered
On October 12, seven seniors from Chinook High School attended the MSU-Northern TekNoXpo & ShowCASE held in the Armory Gymnasium. With TekNoXpo, Montana high school students get the opportunity to explore their educational and career opportunities through MSU-Northern.
According to event organizers, the TekNoXpo & ShowCASE is intended to introduce high school students to all that Northern has to offer in academic programs. These range from graphic design projects, to diesel equipment operation, to interacting with livestock, and even working with simulated humans in the nursing lab.
Everyone in attendance selected from ten different interest areas or tracks and received hands-on experience in those areas. Aislinn Handy, Sterling Bemis, Corey Bilger, and Emma Paulsen took on the Agriculture and Business track; Wylee Simenson and Landen Keeling participated in the Diesel and Automotive track, while Riley Jorgenson explored the Welding, Plumbing, and Electrical track.
Other tracks included Manufacturing and Engineering, Nursing and Health Sciences, Theatre and Humanities, Graphic Design and Marketing, Criminal Justice, Chemistry and Biology, Education and 3D Printing.
About the experience, Mrs. Mitzi Cecrle, who accompaniend the students on their field trip, stated: “The students enjoyed the experience, and a couple of them recognized areas that they would enjoy as a future endeavor. However, at the same time, they recognized areas of dislike. Overall, I believe the purpose of the TekNoXpo was achieved in the experience of our students, which was to encourage them to start thinking about their futures and the paths that they need to take to be successful at whatever they choose to do after high school.”
