Bill Goodman

Bill Goodman of Chinook, Montana passed away November 21, 2023. He was born October 28, 1932 in Ovando, MT to Mack and Bessie Goodman. He was the last of 5 children.

Bill graduated from Deer Lodge High School in 1950, was drafted in 1951 into the Army serving in the conflict in Korea. Bill was honorably discharged in 1953. Bill was then employed at Powell County Road Department from 1955 to 1957. Bill married Reta Felstet in July of 1957 and Bill and Reta remained in Ovando where they raised four children. Bill spent a lot of time hunting, fishing, and playing a lot of men's softball from Ovando to Helmville. Every day for Bill was family day.

In 1957, Bill changed jobs and started working at Greenough section Road Department. He worked there until 1977, changed jobs again and transferred to Lolo pass section Road Department, until Bill retired in 1983.

In 1985, Bill had surgery that claimed Bill legally blind. It was then that Bill and Reta became camp hosts at Lake Koocanusa Campground for 10 years where family and friends gathered for many memories. In 2003, Bill moved to Chinook for more open spaces, Reta remained in Lolo, and Bill and Reta remained married for 66 years.

Bill is survived by wife Reta, daughter Texanna (Richard), son Rex (Cindy), son Chad (Tarri), daughter Julie (Curt), 7 granddaughters, 5 grandsons, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 on the way.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, three sisters, and grandson Chad William Goodman Jr.
