Torndoes Thump Nashua 58-10 & Fall to Bainville 56-18

The Turner Tornadoes girls started their 2023-24 basketball season in Glasgow at the Class C Showcase. Turner opened up with a 58-10 win over Nashua in an early morning contest on Friday and then fell to Bainville Saturday morning 56-18.

Turner got off to a fast start Friday morning jumping out to an 18-5 lead after eight minutes of action. Sophomore Bridgett Reed scored eight in the opening stanza and senior Natalie Richman and Junior Cassidy Grabofsky each added four points for the Turner offense. Turner added six points while holding Nashua scoreless.

Coming out of halftime with a 24-5 lead to Tornadoes kept their foot on the gas and expanded their lead to 34. Sophomore, Meridian Snider, had a big third quarter knocking down a pair of triples and scoring 10 points to give Turner a 39-5l lead. Nashua matched their output through three quarters with five in the fourth quarter but the Tornadoes scored 19 down the stretch including eight from Modesty Chamberlain. Turner was led in scoring by Snider with 14 and Richman with 11.

Saturday morning the Turner girls struggled from the start trailing Bainville 10-2 at the end of one and 31-8 by intermission. Turner scored 10 after the break in a 56-18 set back. Turner will head to Harlowton this week for another pre-season tournament with a 1-1 record. They will host Chester/Joplin-Inverness on December 15 in their home opener.
