Happy New Year from your library! We hope you will make a resolution to use your library more this year. We have all types of services available for you. Check out our Facebook page and website at http://www.harlempubiclibrary.org to keep up on the happenings.
The 2024 Book Challenge is underway. The challenge for January is to read a book with a three-word title. We have a selection on display for you to choose from. When you complete the challenge notify the library and your name will be entered to win a $10 gift card from a local business.
The Book Club’s new selection is “Hang the Moon” by Jeannette Walls. You may pick up a copy this week and the first discussion will be Monday, January 8, 4 P.M. in the library meeting room.
Children’s programming resumes this week. After School Squad, STEM activities for grade school students, meets on Wednesdays from 4:00 - 5:00 P.M. Lego Club for all ages is held on Thursdays from 4:00 - 5:00 P.M. Preschool children must be accompanied by an adult. Storytime for ages 0-5 and their parents/caregivers has moved from Tuesdays to Fridays at 10 A.M.
Film Fridays have been discontinued.
Thanks again to everyone who supported the holiday wine and cheese fundraiser. It was the most successful fundraiser to date!
Two new DVDs added to the collection include the PBS film “The American Buffalo” by Ken Burns and “Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3.”
Are you looking for a suspense novel? Why not try “All the Dead Shall Weep” by Charlaine Harris. This is the fifth installment in the Gunnie Rose series. Others include “Midnight Is the Darket Hour” by Ashley Winstead, “The Death of Us” by Lori Rader-Day, and “Murder at Haven’s Rock” by Kelly Armstrong.
Nora Robert’s new series, The Lost Bride Trilogy, begins with “Inheritance.”
A new No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency novel is “From a Far and Lovely Country” by Alexander McCall Smith.
“Rescuing Hope” is a memoir of Kayla Bonar written by Kayla’s mother, Sonya Bonar. Kayla was the granddaughter of Steve and Sherry Edwards of Chinook. Thanks to them for donating this book to our library.
There is still a number of cookbooks donated by Cindy Nissen Berg that you may purchase with a free-will donation to the library.
