We've Got The County Covered
Chinook will be hosting a blood drive on Tuesday, January 9th, 2023 from noon till 6pm at the Chinook Community Commercial Building down at the fairgrounds.
The American Red Cross deemed January as National Blood Donor Month and describesit as, “a time to recognize the importance of giving blood and platelets while celebrating the lifesaving impact of those who roll up a sleeve to help patients in need. It is also a time to encourage new and lapsed donors to resolve to give blood during one of the most difficult times to maintain a sufficient blood supply – the winter months.” This blood drive is a way of giving our community the opportunity to help save lives.
Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors. With someone in the U.S. needing blood every two seconds, blood products must be constantly replenished, according to the Red Cross.
“We urge our community members to donate blood and help ensure that patients in local hospitals have a supply of blood ready and waiting before an emergency occurs. There is no better feeling than knowing that your blood donation may give someone a second chance at life.”
According to the Red Cross, donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, A negative and B negative.
To make an appointment go to http://www.redcrossblood.org. If you are unable to make an appointment but would like to donate, walk in’s are always welcome.
We look forward to seeing you there and thank you for your lifesaving gift!
