The Hays/Lodge Pole girls' and boys' basketball team headed to Big Sandy on Saturday afternoon to take on the Pioneers. In the girls' contest, it was Big Sandy that collected a 51-32 win over the Thunderbirds. In the boys' contest, it was the Pioneers, again, securing a 92-61 win. On Saturday, the teams were home to face the Rocky Boy Stars, where the boys fell 71-32 while the girls were victorious, 48-40
On Friday afternoon in Big Sandy, the Thunderbirds got a solid performance from Junior Imagin Fox. Fox connected on four long balls and scored 14 points to lead the team in the loss to the Pioneers. Big Sandy led 32-9 at the break and coasted to a 52-31 win over the Thunderbirds.
On Saturday, the Thunderbirds opened up an early lead and played good basketball down the stretch to jump out to an early lead and steadily added to their lead in a 48-40 win over the Stars. In the boys' contest, the Stars started strong and cruised to a 71-32 win over HLP. Individual stats were unavailable for both games over the weekend. We hope to have full stats in next week's paper.
This Friday Hays/LP will host the Turner Tornadoes. Saturday the Thunderbirds will head to Fort Benton to take on the Longhorns in another tough District 9C match up.
