We've Got The County Covered
Opening this weekend in conjunction with Montana Actors’ Theater (MCT), Claire Stoner presents Hill Country Revue. This variety show series will feature various musical sets and humorous skits each week, with the first installment due to open on Friday, January 20 at the theater on the campus of MSU-Northern.
According to MCT personnel, the variety show will be presented in the vein of Hee-Haw, Saturday Night Live, and Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In. This production series will showcase a weekly local musician playing original music with comic interludes commenting on life in Havre and on the Hi-Line. Skits will be different each week, so Hi-Line residents are encouraged to attend all three weekends.
Sponsored by Amber Spring Counseling, this weekend’s event will feature original music by Matt Springer. Evening shows will begin at 8:00 p.m. on both January 19 and 20, with an additional Saturday matinee beginning at 2:00 p.m.
The following weekend, January 26 and 27, a duo from Fort Benton, The Lucky Valentines will take the stage with their original music. “Making sad things beautiful since 2009,” Shaun and Jamie Carrier have written more than eighty songs which predominately feature “a mix of folk melodic sensibilities and tight harmonies,” according to their website. They are sponsored by Thomas Tilleman.
On February 2 and 3, the third act in Hill Country Revue will highlight original music by Counting Coup. With sponsorship by Valley Furniture, the band is comprised of Troy Falcon on bass/lead vocals, Toby Falcon on guitar/vocals, Brenden Fritzler on harmonica, and Ken Clark on drums. The band members describe their music as a “rugged, rowdy, and broken sound that is bound to draw you in with soulful leads and melodies while flattening you with lyrics that range from gleeful to heart wrenchingly desolate. It is a collaboration of joy, pain, suffering, understanding, and plain old fun.”
Tickets for each of the variety show installments are available not only online at mtactors.com but also locally at Havre Chamber of Commerce, The Computer Center, & Company Apparel, and Bear Paw Meats.
