The Chinook Sugarbeeter hosted an old foe from District 9C on Friday night in the Fort Benton Longhorns. Chinook fought their way to a 48-33 win. On Saturday, the girls traveled west to Shelby to take on the Coyotes in a district 1B match. The Coyotes gave the 'Beeters all they could handle but in the end it was Chinook earning a 55-44 win.
Chinook started off with Senior Jenna Liddle scoring five points, including one from downtown. Junior Addison Olson added a triple of her own and freshman Brooke Fetter scored four to help the 'Beeters take a 16-5 lead at the end of one. Junior Alexus Seymour dropped a triple and scored five, while the team managed just seven more points before the half.
Leading 23-18 to start the third quarter, senior Hallie Neibauer tallied six points, including a triple. Seymour added three points and the 'Beeters got buckets from Schoen and Liddle to take a 38-24 lead at the end of three. Down the stretch, Seymour added four points, as did Neibauer. Fetter accounted for the other two points, leading the way to a 48-33 win over the Longhorns.The 'Beeters were led on the night by Seymour with 12 points and Neibauer with 10.
On Saturday, the 'Beeter girls headed west to Shelby to face the Coyotes in a district 1B matchup. Neibauer began the contest with nine points, including a triple, and went 2-2 from the charity stripe, leading the way to a 15-6 first quarter lead. In the second quarter, the 'Beeter offense struggled a bit, getting a three pointer from sophomore Neva Lowe and a bucket a piece from junior Gracie Skoyen, Neibauer and Liddle. While the offense scored just nine points, the defense allowed 18 points, sending the teams to halftime all squared up at 24-24.
Neibauer scored eight points in the third quarter, including an AND1, while Seymour connected from downtown and scored seven. The 'Beeter offense tallied 17 points in the third quarter while limiting the Coyotes to just nine, sending the teams to the fourth quarter with Chinook holding a 41-33 advantage. Neibauer finished strong, scoring seven points, including another triple to help the 'Beeters secure a 55-44 win over the Coyotes.
The 'Beeters were led on the night by Neibauer with 24 points while Seymour added 13 to the 'Beeter victory. The 'Beeters will host the Choteau Bulldogs this Thursday and then travel to Rocky Boy to take on the Morning Stars on Saturday.
