We've Got The County Covered

Marlene Doney (Dennis)

Marlene Doney (Dennis), 92, passed away January 24, 2024 at Northern Montana Hospital after a short illness.

The family will hold a celebration of life in the spring, as Marlene wanted her ashes spread at her family's homestead.

Marlene B Allery was born on December 15, 1931 in Malta, Montana to Alfred & Agnes Allery. She was raised at the family homestead just south of Whitewater, MT, on the creek. After attending schools at Whitewater and Flandreau Indian School in South Dakota, she continued her education at Northern Montana College in pursuit of a nursing degree.

In 1952, Marlene married Clinton Dennis Jr and they moved to Glasgow, MT where he was a heavy equipment operator. His job took them to Washington with four children, and finally back to the Missoula area where they added one more son to the family and settled in Arlee. Marlene spent this time in her life rearing kids & horses alike, and working at the hospital in St. Ignatius.

After moving home to the Whitewater area in the mid-70's, Marlene married Leonard Doney and they settled in Chinook, MT. Marlene became an apprentice water plant operator for the City of Chinook and attended night school at Northern where she acquired two more degrees in clearwater and wastewater management. She operated the plant in Chinook until she retired in 1996, but not before traveling for part of a year to aid in the expansion of Hyalite reservoir in southern Montana and receiving several state & federal awards.

Marlene lived out her retirement spending quality time with family and friends, as well as enjoying time at the racetrack, passing on her love of raising horses to run. Marlene always took care of her family - those who preceded her in death, and those of us still here to remember.

She will be missed greatly, and never forgotten.

We love you mom, sister, auntie, grandma.
