Friede Named Overall Beef Showman at Little International

The Saddle and Sirloin Club of North Dakota State University held their annual event, the Little International. This year marked the 98th Little "I", which took place Saturday, February 10th.

The Little International Livestock Show is the largest student-run event on the NDSU campus involving over 300 students. The show features showmanship classes of beef, dairy, sheep, swine, and goats as well as ham curing and public speaking. The Little International also honors an Agriculturalist of the Year; this position commemorates an individual who has excelled within the agriculture industry of North Dakota. This year's Agriculturalist of the Year is Larry Schnell of Dickinson, ND.

The Livestock Showmanship Contest, which took place on Saturday, February 10th, was one you didn't want to miss! It was a great opportunity for students to showcase the many hours of hard work they had put in to get their designated animals prepared for the show ring. After a full night of showmanship classes, Morgan Friede, daughter of Scott and Fay Friede, of Chinook, MT, was named the Overall Beef Showman. Morgan is a freshman majoring in accounting at NDSU. Morgan advanced on to compete in the round robin competition, where all the overall species' showmen got to show all other species. She won the round robin competition making her the 98th Little International Overall Champion Showman. Congrats Morgan!
