We've Got The County Covered

Chinook Blood Drive was held on March 5th

At our recent blood drive on Tuesday March 5th we had 43 presenting donors with 40 units collected. Because of your generosity 120 lives will be saved. We encourage anyone who is healthy, willing and able to come help give the gift of life. Donors with all blood types are needed. Remember, blood is a perishable product that can only come from blood donors like yourself. So please, come roll up your sleeve and give the gift of life. One donation can save up to the three lives.

There were no new donors at this blood drive, but we always encourage newcomers. To be a donor you need to be 18 or older and weighing at least 110 pounds. Those 16 or 17 years of age are eligible to donate with a signed parental consent. Parental consents can be picked up at the Chinook high school office or at the registration table at the commercial building down at the fairgrounds the day of the drive. Valid identification is required for all blood donations.

There are many reasons to become a donor and each person’s “why” is different. It may be be-cause a friend asked you to donate with them, or because you have a loved one who may need blood, or simply just for the fact that you want to help make a difference. Whatever your “why” is we would love to see you at the next blood drive on May 7, 2024.

The canteen was hosted by the Ladies from the American Lutheran Church. Those tending to the sack lunches throughout the afternoon were Connie Stlanley, Sharon LaPlant, Terry Grabofsky and Bonnie Hellman. We are very grateful for all the work you do to provide snacks to the donors. Thank you ladies.

Taking home door prices were Trisha Merrill, Valerie Black Crow, Brook Pruttis and Laura Pruttis.

Others who most certainly need to be recognized for their willingness to contribute to the smooth running of the drive each time Linda Thompson and Roxanne Townsend who spent the afternoon at the welcome table.

To each and every one of you, thank you for your willingness to donate and to participate in one way or another. We hope to see you at the next Blood Drive in Chinook on May 7, 2024 at the Blaine County Fairgrounds from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
