We've Got The County Covered
Presented by Alec and Karen McIntosh, the theatrical production Men on Boats opened this past weekend, May 9-11. Anyone who missed this Montana Actors' Theatre (MAT) Youth Production is invited to see it on May 16-18 at 7:00 p.m. in the MSUN/MAT Theatre on the campus of MSU-Northern.
Directed by Marcee Murphy and assisted by Cody Samuel Cochran, Men on Boats by Jaclyn Backhaus promises "an unforgettable theatrical experience that will take you on a daring journey through the American West," according to MAT personnel.
Based largely on John Wesley Powell's 1869 expedition journals, which were published as "The Exploration of the Colorado River and Its Canyons," this play is set on boats traversing the Green and Colorado Rivers from Wyoming to a Big Canyon on the government's first Sanctioned Expedition. Given that setting, Men on Boats is an exploration of courage, camaraderie, and the uncharted waters of the human spirit.
The cast includes Vivian Nast as John Wesley Powell, Carinna Kline as William Dunn, Treasure Squires as John Colton Sumner, Hannah Lickfold as Old Shady, Chloe Corner as Bradley, Julian Nast as O.G. Howland/Just Jim, Avery Thompson as Seneca Howland/Johnson, Trinity Olsen as Frank Goodman/Mr. Asa, Adalee Kempton as Hall, andElizabeth Carroll as Hawkins
On the crew, Stage Manager is Hailey Finneman; Light Designer is Maggie Daniels; Set Design and Construction: Casey J Pratt, assisted by Theatre 105 and Micah Cammon; Costumes, Angela Pratt and Marcee Murphy; Make-up by Signe Riggin; Props Technician:Tylyn Turner; Tech Operator: Signe Riggin; and Stage Crew: Kerrington Kraske, Kathryn Albertson, Blake Marsh, and Marrian Nast.
Doors and Backstage Lounge open one half hour before the show begins.
