We've Got The County Covered

Chinook Senior Center

Hello From the Chinook Social Senior Center

We continue to grow the fun in here every single day! We are so very blessed by the people in our community who show up and contribute in so many different ways!

We held our first (that I am aware of) Mother's Day Brunch on Saturday, May 11th for approximately 70 ladies. What a tremendous bunch of fabulous women we had the privilege to serve. Each and every day, I see ladies that don't have any family close by, and eventually, this is what led to my decision to host this special event. I am truly amazed at the community support for this event, so I will make this an annual event.

I travelled to Conrad for more training on the new Federal guidelines on Monday, May 13th. There isn't one of us who Directs a Center that truly understands why they make the decisions that they make. If you see changes that you know would not normally be something that we would implement in our small community, please know that it is not us, but that it is necessary to be compliant for our help with funding that we need to operate on a daily basis. Without that help, we would all be in trouble. The day-to-day operations of a Center make up the whole of what you see, when you enter. I will just praise God for the ability to get this funding and go forward.

We will have Bob Quinn coming in on Tues., May 21st to present his trip to Antarctica. We are always very pleased to announce that there are people who wish to partner with us to bring many and varied events and interests to our community. Please, if you read this in time, come and join us! Bob is well-travelled, with his Kamut business as well as other adventures and he is always a delight.

As we move closer to Memorial Day, let us all take the time to remember those who have fought and given ALL for our country. We are so very blessed to live in this nation, where we still have freedom of religion and freedom of speech (even if we sometimes don't agree with the speeches that we hear). Many people have made unimaginable sacrifices for those freedoms. When we see a Veteran, we all need to take a moment to thank them for their service.

We just received news that Teddy Powell & Doug Mitchell will be hosting Slapjack Saturday, on Saturday, June 29th from 9:00 until the Slapjacks are gone. These old cowboys are fun! Fun is good! We hope to see you here, for this one, too! Please call ahead and reserve a table!

Thurs., May 23rd: Cod

Fri., May 24th: Luau Dinner/ Pulled Pork

Be Blessed and Be a Blessing. Get in here!

We are so very sad to hear that Kody Farmer has passed on, and while he will be missed terribly, he is at rest and at peace. I am told, at this time, that his service will be held on Sunday, June 23rd, details attached in obituary on page 4 of this week's paper.
