Harlem Public Schools
On May 6, 2024, at 6:00pm the Harlem Jr. /Sr. High School held an Academic Banquet and celebration, of our students and staff. Invitations were sent out to all parents, guardians, both communities of Harlem and Fort Belknap Agency, as well as to the elders, retired teachers, tribal council and school board. Master of Ceremonies was Corey Morgan Jr., the school’s Athletic Director. Crystal Doney the National Honor Society advisor gave the opening prayer. The quest speaker was William “Billy” Bell, a former alumni of Harlem High School class of 1994. Billy is an enrolled member of the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Water Quality: Environmental Health from MSU-Northern, his Masters of Science in Integrated Resource Management from Colorado State University. He talked about how important it is to keep your culture, and dreams alive well pursuing your higher education.
Each of the 20 teachers on staff, choose students from their elective classes and core classes, most improved student, and academic student. They gave out a total of 105 plaques, each student also received a sweater donated from the National Honor Society Club. I would like to thank the teachers who attended the banquet and honored their students’ achievements.
The staff who had been at HHS twenty plus years or more have also been honored with plaques for the amount of years, and a coffee tumbler donated from the National Honor Society Club. Total amount of years for 15 staff members, from janitors, bus drivers, teachers, cook, to business office, 430 years of service to our school.
Last but not least was the National Honor Society Induction of three new members. Also thank you to the National Honor Society Students and Harlem Youth Leadership Students for serving the three course meal. A big thank you to the three cooks, Julie Lame Bull, Andrea Quintana, and Cecile Flansburg.
