Chinook Tennis wins it all at Class B/C State Tennis

Competing in some of the most important meets of the season, the Chinook Tennis Team was preparing for the divisionals and state competition. From the Townsend Dawgbite Tournament in Helena to the Seeding Tournament in Havre, the girls were figuring out where they would stand.

On May 3 the Townsend Dawgbite Tournament began around 10 a.m. The Chinook girls roamed around Helena, playing their matches between three different courts. The Dawgbite consisted of many various teams from across the state that all came together and played their rivals. Throughout the two-day tournament, Chinook secured 22 wins and only endured 12 losses.

Traveling the distance to Havre on May 9, the Beeters rallied it out against their opponents. Playing the teams in their division, the girls got to learn where they would stand in the bracket for Divisionals. In pool one for singles were Mya Berreth and Rilee Molyneaux. Competing in singles' pool two was Kamry Gustitis. Playing for Chinook in the number one pool for doubles were the teams: Ashlyn Jensen and Jenna Liddle, along with Falyn Cecrle and Gracie Skoyen.

With stakes high, the girls readied themselves for a long day. Starting at 8:00 a.m., the meet was stopped around 4:00 p.m. when the teams were required to finish their matches. Although the time was a little shortened, the Beeters carried home seven wins and bore five losses.

With standings in place, the Chinook tennis team was invited by Chesters's tennis team. Joining them at their meet, the girls enjoyed a cheeseburger and hamburger lunch with "plenty of desserts and sides," explained Liddle. Heading home, the Beeters took 11 wins for the day, suffering zero losses.

On May 17-18, the Chinook Varsity Tennis team participated in the divisional meet hosted in Great Falls. Competing against many other teams from the Northern B/C division, Berreth won the championship against fellow tennis member Molyneaux, giving the younger player second place. Chinook's number one doubles team, Liddle and Jensen, tussled through the tournament, placing them in third in the doubles bracket. The team stacked their points, tying for first place overall with Fairfield.

The members making it to state played in Missoula on May 23-25, wrapping up the 2023-2024 tennis season.
