Betty Mae Haynes age 85 passed away peacefully June 6, 2024 at Bassett Long Term Care surrounded by family.
Betty was born July 3 1938 in Bassett NE where she was raised and went to school. She had 2 children from a previous marriage, Nadean and Scott.
Betty and Willis were married Jan 9, 1977 and adopted a daughter, Judy.
Betty and Willis enjoyed 47 years of marriage.
In their early years of marriage, they operated a hog and cattle ranch in Purdum, NE They later moved to Bassett, NE where they managed the Bassett Lodge and Range Café.
Over 3 decades, Betty contributed to the medical field by teaching CPR, EMT and First Responder courses. In 1991 Betty went to nursing school and became an LPN. Not only did she contribute to the medical community, she was also Civil Defense Administrator of Rock County for 10 years.
Betty was very proud of her family. During retirement Betty and Willis enjoyed traveling and spending time with their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.
Betty enjoyed reading, sewing, and quilting.
Betty is survived by her loving husband Willis Haynes (Bassett, NE), daughter Nadean Wilkerson, (Cambridge, NE), son Scott and Heidi Haynes, (Lincoln, NE), Grandchildren, Sable Fessler, (Lincoln, NE), Pheobe Fessler, (Comstock, NE), Amanda (Matt) Gall, (Cambridge, NE), Alissa Overy, (Richard Coats), (Juniata, NE) Feliccia Overy, (Hastings, NE), Samantha Haynes (Elkhorn, NE), Tyler Haynes, (Lincoln, NE) Sister Judy Burns (Aaron), (George West, TX) Sister Leola Johnson, (California).
Great Grandchildren, Ridge Smith, Ridley Smith, Remington Gall, Ashlynn Divine, Nephew Greg Ruther, (Michelle), (Cottonwood Heights, UT), and other nieces and Nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, mother Ima Schindler, daughter Judy Haynes, Grandson Dalton Fessler, brother Rex Burns, Sister Vivian Ruther, Brother in law, Keith Ruther, Brother in law, Dave Johnson.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, July 12, 2024 at The American Legion, 201 Buchanan St. Bassett, NE. A luncheon will be served at noon and Celebration of Life starting at 1:30. Cards of condolence can be mailed to Haynes Family 400 Panzer Street # 18 Bassett, NE 68714.
