Keep reading this summer! The summer reading program continues for all ages. Children are reminded to bring in their reading logs to earn gift certificates and chances to win the grand prizes. Weekly programs include Summer STEAM for elementary students on Mondays at 1 P.M.; Storytime for children ages 0-5 and their parents/caregivers on Tuesdays at 10 A.M.; and Lego Club for all ages on Thursdays at 4 P.M.

Teens and adults can also earn chances to win a $50 gift card by notifying the library for each book completed.

The Book Challenge for July is to read a book set in an intriguing city.

The Friends of the Harlem Public Library are hosting a free taco bar July 24 from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. outside of the library to show their appreciation for the community’s support.

Don’t forget about the ongoing used book sale in the Reading Room. Hardback books and DVDs are on sale for twenty-five cents and paperbacks are only ten cents.

“The Loves of Theodore Roosevelt: The Women Who Created a President” is a new nonfiction selection by Edward F. O’Keefe. This work reveals how an “icon of rugged American masculinity was profoundly shaped by the women in his life....especially his mother, sisters, and wives.”

Great new summer reads include “Swan Song” by Elin Hilderbrand, “For the Love of Summer” by Susan Mallery, and “Summers at the Saint” by Mary Kay Andrews.

Bestselling author David Baldacci has written “A Calamity of Souls.” Set in 1968, a racially charged murder case sets a duo of white and Black lawyers against an unfair system as they try to defend their wrongly accused Black defendants in this courtroom drama.

“Return to Blood” is a Hanna Westerman thriller by Michael Bennett in which the discovery of human bones in the dunes of New Zealand upends a long-ago murder conviction.

Families are invited to enjoy the children’s playspace. Come read and play with your children. We have wooden blocks, puzzles, stuffed animals, magnetic tiles, and dominoes.
