Hello From the Chinook Senior Center

By the time you all read this, you will have gathered and caught up with many old class mates and had time to celebrate together! Wow! These all-class reunions takes the WHOLE village to put together! What a nice job Heather DePriest has done on coordinating it all! SHEESH! That’s a lot of fun things! I am not quite certain how anyone can take it ALL in, but there was certainly something for everyone.

We had our annual “Volunteer Appreciation Picnic” on Saturday, June 29th, with about 28 fabulous people in attendance! What a great day we all had, with a great meal! A huge shout out to the Blaine County Mosquito district and Tim Conlin, for making certain that the mosquitos were not being fed (by us). Also, a HUGE thank you to Tammy Williams and the Scout Park for their donation of the park and it’s facilities for the afternoon.

If you would like to make a difference in our community, by volunteering at our Center, please do contact me and let me know. It is a very rewarding couple of hours each week and gives you the opportunity to “give back” to the community that has inspired you! You will likely get to see people that you otherwise will not get to see out and about, as many of these fine people do not go out much. We are always seeking people who are willing to give just a tiny bit of themselves.

We have many fun things in store for the month of July. July can often be too hot to be outside much and we keep it cool all while having fun.

Wed., July 10th is our Annual Meeting and election of new board members @ 11:00! You must be an active member and be here at 11:00 for this very important meeting! There will be no absentee voting. We need to continue to push our Center forward in a positive direction, with people who have a heart for this community and joy for our Center.

Tues., July 16th from 1:00-3:00 will be a Diamond Dotz art class. This is fun and very addicting. What beautiful creations you can make!

Saturday, July 20th from 9:00-12:00 we will have the dynamic duo, Teddy & Doug making Sourdough Slapjacks, for a Free-Will offering. Please come and join this fun gathering!

Tues., July 23rd will once again, bless us with Gene Allen and friends, from 1:00-4:00. Great music and they can play almost any request!

Friday, July 26th will be another fun-filled day, with a birthday party, music by Avis & Marge on Fiddles, Sheri on keyboard, and whoever else we can get our hands on! AND CARDS AT 2:00!!

Tues., July 30th from 1:00-3:00 will be Diamond Dotz, because it is fun and FUN IS GOOD!

As a reminder…we truly like to have you call no later than 10:00 to either join us at the table or to order a “pick-up” meal, otherwise we wouldn’t know how many we are cooking for. If you know a week in advance that you will be joining us…..CALL THEN! The sooner we know, the better. Thank you all for your understanding.
