Julia Sattleen Dolan

Julia Sattleen Dolan, age 99, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024, in Billings, Montana, under the care of St. John's United.

Julia was born March 9, 1925, in Chinook, Montana, to Jonas and Olive (Ramberg) Sattleen. She was raised South of Havre on the family ranch/farm. She often reminisced about riding a horse to grade school in the snow. Julia attended and graduated from Havre High School. During this time, she worked for A.F. Buttrey. Any thoughts of a career ended when she joined the war effort working at the Vancouver, WA, shipyards. After the war, she returned to Montana where she met the love of her life, Robert J. (Bob) Dolan in Chinook, Montana. They raised their family in Chinook. In retirement they wintered in Lake Havasu City, AZ.

She is survived by her children, Joseph (Jan McNeil) of Billings, Janet of Scottsdale, AZ, Patrick of Seattle, WA, and Carol Wachter (Tim) of Beaverton, Oregon. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kim Youngquist (JC) of Sidney, MT, Eric Dolan (Jordan) of Sammamish, WA, Julie Wachter (Caleb Smith) of Seattle, WA, Abby Wachter of Seattle, WA, and Megan Wachter of Portland, Oregon and six great grandchildren, Garrett, Lauren and Emma Youngquist and Jaxon, Charli and Gracyn Dolan. She is also survived by her elder sister, Mary Hofeldt, of Chinook, MT along with numerous Sattleen/Hofeldt and Dolan/Curtis nieces and nephews as well as extended family members and loyal friends.

Living to 99, she outlived many family and friends, but her sharp mind and memory led to many humorous and heart-warming stories.

Julia loved to throw a party and her laughter was legendary. She truly loved her family and friends, especially those in Chinook, sharing many trips and events with them.

A special thanks to the caring and compassionate employees of St. John's United.
