Parents of infants and toddlers are encouraged to register their children for two literacy opportunities provided by the library. “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” helps parents prepare their children for school as they develop a love of reading. Keep track each time you read a book with your child. Prizes will be awarded at the time of registration, at the 500 book mark and when you reach 1000 books.

The second opportunity is Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Children ages 0-5 can receive a free high-quality book in the mail monthly. You may enroll your child using a link on the library website at http://www.harlempubliclibrary.org or at http://www.imaginationlibrary.com. You may also pick up a paper registration form at the library.

The library board of trustees will hold their regular monthly meeting Wednesday, July 31, 4:30 P.M. in the library meeting room.

Readers of Craig Johnson’s Longmire Series will want to check out the latest installment “First Frost.” “Tom Clancy: Act of Defiance” is the new Jack Ryan novel by Brian Andrews and Jeffrey Wilson.

True Crime enthusiasts will want to pick up “College Girl, Missing: The True Story of How a Young Woman Disappeared in Plain Sight” by Shawn Cohen. Another new nonfiction title is “Cheaper, Faster, Better: How We’ll Win the Climate War” by Tom Steyer.

A injured baby crow will bring the three lost souls together on a journey toward hope and healing.

“That Night in the Library” by Eve Jurczyk is a chilling library mystery that takes readers to a world where secrets live in the dark, books breathe fear to life, and the only way out is to wait until morning.

“Friends & Fun!” will take a break until September.
