We've Got The County Covered

Sugarbeeter Pride Appears on Main Street.

You may have seen the new Sugarbeet Logo on Main Street recently near the Chinook Motor Inn. The new artwork is the vision of city shop foreman Josh Nordboe and a combined effort with the city crew and the Chinook Chamber of Commerce.

While cleaning out the shop after accepting the City Shop Foreman job, Nordboe stumbled across some old stencils. Asking the other workers what they were, he was told they were for a large sugarbeet at one time. “We tried to piece it together but couldn’t seem to make it work,” Nordboe said. That’s when he looked into companies that produced stencils and found a company that produced a 20 piece stencil of the Chinook Sugarbeeter mascot. The Chinook Chamber of Commerce and the City split the cost of the stencil.

“There was not a whole lot of instructions that came with it,” Nordboe added, but they figured it out and got the logo painted in time for the All School Reunion over the 4th of July. It’s pretty hard to miss if you drive up or down main street.

Nordboe said the city crew has plans to use the stencil on the sidewalks leading to the high school and to Meadowlark School before school starts this fall, bringing Beeter pride to both schools.
