We've Got The County Covered

Blaine County Fair Starts Tomorrow

Starting Thursday, activities will kick off for another exciting Blaine County Fair. Fair Manager Debbie Ramberg is enthusiastic about the events they have planned this year. "We have activities for both kids and adults," Ramberg said. She's also excited about the cooler weather that is supposed to move in. "Temperatures in the high 70's." This should make it easier for patrons to take in the exhibits.

Ramberg has been fair manager for the past 7 years, also working at the Fair office two years prior. When asked what stresses her out about her job, she said, "There really isn't anything. I'm pretty organized, so I just roll with the punches." She also enjoys the people during the fair and her hardworking fair board. "It just all comes together at the right time."

Right now 22 vendors are scheduled for the commercial building giving people a chance to talk to businesses they might not see often. One of the vendors this year will be a caricature artist who will be doing drawings for people throughout the day, free of charge. The commercial building will be open from 10 am to 6 pm, Thursday through Saturday.

Pippi the Clown will be back entertaining kids (and adults) with her magic, balloon animal, face painting and even some water balloon fun as well as other activities during the fair.

The Kids Fun Zone will once again be providing rides for the fair on the Midway. The rides are free of charge thanks to the Blaine County Fair. There will also be duck pond to try your luck, a bungee trampoline and a mechanical bull for those a little more adventurous. Freckle Farm Petting Zoo will be set up with plenty of young animals for kids to cuddle with and feed, as well as pony rides.

There will be plenty of 4-H exhibits and open exhibits as well as farm animals for attendees to check out. Always enjoyable time spent to see the hard work Blaine County residents have put in.

There will be no shortage of food at the Fair. The Lions will be selling their usual pronto pups along with French fries and cheesy fries. The Eagles will have everything taco, along with mac and cheese and pulled pork. The Funshine Preschool still has their delicious scones and the FFA will have their selection of tasty treats available under the grandstand.

The VFW and 4-H Chuckwagon will both be serving delicious burgers, fries and pies. The Chuckwagon will also be open in the mornings to serve a free breakfast for all thanks to the generous sponsors, CHS Big Sky, The Blaine County 4-H Foundation, and the Turner Lions. Breakfast will start at 6 am on Thursday and 7 am on Friday and Saturday. Free will donations will be accepted.

In addition to the regular food booths, there will be 6 outdoor vendors. There will be Kettle Corn and the Moore Caffeine Co. will be selling coffee, tea, lemonade and Lotus beverages. Chill Out will have their tasty shaved ice to cool you down.

The Stack will have their oven fired pizza on the grounds and Grizzly Bear Barbecue will have all kinds of barbecue selections along with fries and mac and cheese on the midway. Crazy Sister Creations will also have arts and crafts for sale.

Evening will have plenty of entertainment in the George Ortner Arena. New bleachers just added will provide more seating and awesome views. Thursday and Friday will see cowboy and cowgirl action with the Bear Paw Roundup PRCA Rodeo. Top cowboys and cowgirls will be competing at this event. Rough stock is provided by Sparky Dreesen and J Bar J rodeo. Dreesen has several rough stock at the NFR every year. Rodeo begins at 7 pm

Friday night will be the Small Town Beat Down Demolition Derby. Plenty of hard hitting action and crashes with plenty of fun. Demo derby starts at 6 pm. There will also be a new beer garden in the grandstand area with two locations to wet your whistle.

Plenty to do and great food at the Blaine County Fair. Check last week's paper or the fair premium book for a list of the 4-H events.
