We've Got The County Covered

Chinook Library

The Summer Reading Program is officially over. We had a final program Friday August 2nd with live drawings for prizes. Denton Eggleston turned in the most reading slips and was the winner of the pizza party. Katherine Kropf was the winner of the pre-school prize. Bannen Stroebe was the winner of the science kit. Natalee Niederegger was the winner of the LEGO set. Elosie Gonzalez was the winner of the marble run & cornhole game. Zoe Scofield was the winner of the art kit. Knox Jonart was the winner of the special passport drawing, a set of water guns. Aubrey K. and Hannah H. were the winners of the young adult drawing. Johanna Eggleston, of Hi-Line Pediatric Therapy, generously donated one free ice cream cone certificate from the Creamery to each child who turned in 10 or more reading slips. We had 25 kids who received ice cream certificates! Thank you, Johanna, for being a supporter of the Summer Reading Program. Thanks also goes out to Rad’s for donating ice cream cups for treats at our Summer Reading Programs. The kids really enjoyed them. We would also like to thank our volunteers, Julia, Aubrey, Maddie and DeAnne. We would not be able to do it without them!

As we wind down the summer and move into the fall, there will be changes at the library. We said goodbye to our Assistant Librarian, Emily Scofield on August 2nd. We will be welcoming Carsey Gonzalez as the new Assistant Librarian on August 21st. Many of our patrons will recognize Carsey, who grew up in Chinook and returned to the area after college. She taught at Zurich School and ran the library there. She has been working at the Meadowlark School for the last couple of years, so many of the kids will know her.

Fall programs will resume in September. We will have an updated schedule of those once Carsey has had time to settle into her new role.
