The legislative boundaries were dramatically shaken up during the last redistricting cycle. What used to be two districts is now comprised of one long area ranging from Chester to Opheim. The districts that used to clearly be separated by farming in the Golden Triangle and then Milk River irrigation along with indigenous friends in tribal areas have all been lumped into one 4 hour stretch across Montana.. With Knudsen being termed out and the absorption of Senator Lang’s district, the Hi-Line east of Havre needs a strong voice now more than ever. That voice is Blake Borst. I have had the privilege of knowing Blake and his family for the last 10 years. Blake is the quiet family man who sits a few pews behind us at our Lutheran church and has raised two lovely and gainfully-employed daughters with his wife Steph. Blake proudly represented his union while employed with the railroad for over 40 years with BNSF. Blake is an avid hunter and proud gun owner, a fiscal conservative, and has made it clear your personal medical decisions are “none of his damn business”. Over the last few months Blake has made an effort to visit every Hi-Line community possible to meet with voters in the new House District 28 echoing the critical importance of funding the St. Mary’s/Milk River project. . He even earned the endorsement of Montana Shooting Sports Association, an honor not bestowed to many Democrats. Blake has lived on the Hi-Line his whole life and knows the every day struggles of those who work in agriculture and industry. The Hi-Line needs an independent voice that isn’t beholden to Greg Gianforte or any state party. For a refreshing yet Hi-Line grounded voice, vote for Blake Borst for HD 28 in November.
