We've Got The County Covered

Chinook Library

Join us tomorrow, Thursday October 3rd at 6:30 p.m. at the library for the first book club meeting. We will be reading “Wild Inside” book 1 in the Glacier Park mystery series by Christine Carbo. If you don’t have a library card, you can stop in and get one before October 3rd or get one during the first meeting. In visiting with patrons who belong to other book clubs, we’ve been made aware that some book club members prefer to purchase their own book. The Blaine County Museum carries copies of this book, if you wish to purchase a copy locally. Copies will be available for checkout from the library or for purchase from the museum at the first meeting. You can call or stop into the museum or the library or send us a message on Facebook and let us know that you are interested in participating or if you have any questions.

We have several thrillers ready for checkout this week. In “Bad Liar” by Tami Hoag a murder victim is dumped at the dead end of a country road, face and hands obliterated by a shotgun blast. A hometown hero and a fallen angel are missing, and nothing in either of their lives is as it seems. It is not clear whether either- or neither- of them might be the unidentified murder victim. “We Solve Murders” by Richard Osman is the first book in a new series, with an iconic new detective duo, Steve Wheeler and his daughter-in-law Amy. Steve Wheeler is enjoying retired life. His days of adventure are over. Amy Wheeler thinks adrenaline is good for the soul. Working in private security, every day is dangerous. She’s currently on a remote island protecting mega-bestselling author Rosie D’Antonio, until a dead body and a bag of money wash ashore mean trouble in paradise. So, she sends an SOS to her father-in-law, the only person she trusts. As a thrilling race around the world begins, can Amy and Steve outrun and outsmart a killer? How would you live your life if you thought you knew how it would end? On a jam-packed flight, an ordinary looking woman stands up and tells people how they are going to die. A few months later one passenger dies exactly like she predicted, then two more die. Intricately plotted, with the wonderful wit Liane Moriarty has become famous for, “Here One Moment” brilliantly looks at friends, lovers, and family and how we manage to hold onto them in our harried modern lives.

All youth programs have officially resumed. Teen Scene, for grades 7 through 12, will be on Mondays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. There will be karaoke, Wii, board games and other activities. Story Time for preschool children is Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Kids’ Zone is on Tuesday for grades 3 through 6 from 3:45-4:45 p.m. There will be crafts, coloring and other activities available. We are planning to continue having Homeschool Hour. The purpose of this program is to provide a place where home school families gather and learn from each other. We have a sign-up sheet for families to host future programs. If we have a week with no host family, we won’t have a program that week. Thursdays will be LEGO Club from 3:45-4:45. Fridays we will show a family friendly movie from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Children under five may attend LEGO Club and movies, but they must be accompanied by an adult. We look forward to seeing everyone.
