'Beeter Volleyball "beets" the competition

This week the Sugarbeeter Volleyball team traveled to Cut Bank Thursday to play against the Wolves. Saturday, the Sugarbeeters hosted the Shelby Coyotes on Senior Night.

The Sugarbeeters had a great lineup of games against the Wolves. The gym was full of high energy due to Cut Bank's Senior Night. The 'Beeters played well in all three sets, leaving the Wolves with a 3-0 victory. Set 1 ended with the Sugarbeeters shaking off their nerves and pulling away with a win of 25-21. Set 2, the 'Beeters wasted no time in pulling out the aces from their sleeves with a score of 25-9. The Wolves decided to stay neck and neck with the 'Beeters, but ultimately ended with the 'Beeters coming out on top with 25-18 at the end of set 3. The 'Beeters had some amazing team totals of kills, aces, digs, blocks and assists. Out of 42 Kills in the game, 11 came from Rilee Molyneaux. As the 'Beeters continued to ace the game, 3 each came from Addison Olsen and Brooke Fetter. Sami Malsam led the team in digs with an astonishing 13 digs herself. Ashlyn Jensen, Gracie Skoyen, and Amyerah Kelly had 1 block each. When it came to assisting, Addison Olsen set up 21 assists.

Saturday in the heart of "the factory", the girls celebrated their very own Senior Night and showed the Coyotes whose gym it truly was after successfully winning 3 of 5 sets. After a heartfelt display of celebrating the Seniors of Chinook, the girls had an exciting game against Shelby. In the first set, the 'Beeters held their own and eventually pulled forward with an ending score of 25-18. As set 2 began, it was clear the Coyote girls were not going to give in so easily. As the ball volleyed back and forth, the Coyotes gained enough momentum to win the set with a score of 25-13. The Sugarbeeters proved that they are a force to be reckoned with and pulled together to end set number three with a victory of 25-17. The Coyotes came back in set number four ending the score with 25-20. In the final set, the Sugarbeeters wanted to show the Coyotes that they had improved since their last meetup earlier in the season. Set number five, being the nail-biter it was, ended with the 'Beeters coming out on top with a score of 15-13; securing their victory in what I could only imagine is a bittersweet moment for their seniors. Rilee Molyneaux had an amazing 17 kills, accounting for 31 percent of the teams' total kills. Sami Malsam had a third of the teams' total aces. Brooke Fetter had a mind-blowing 38 digs out of 115. Ashlyn Jensen led blocking with a total of 3 blocks. Addison Olsen continued to set up the assists with a whopping 29 assists.

The Sugarbeeters' next varsity volleyball game is scheduled against Rocky Boy, Tuesday, October 15 at 6:30PM.
