We've Got The County Covered
The All-Class State Cross Country meet was held this past Saturday at UofM Golf Course in Missoula.
The Harlem Boys team shined bright at the State Meet. The boys qualified as a team and earned a 6th place finish out of 27 teams.
Individually, it was Ethan Walker who led the way for the Wildcats. Walker finished the course in a time of 16:14.1, earning him a fourth place finish as well as All State honors. Walker was one to watch entering the State meet, and he did not disappoint. Congrats, Ethan, on an outstanding season!
Also showing strong performances for the Wildcats and helping earn the team's sixth place finish were sophomore Jayvon Bigknife who finished the course in 17:47.0; freshman Treyton Mount finishing in 17:52.9; sophomore Orion Cuts the Rope with a time of 18:43.8, and sophomore Lathan Blackwolf with a time of 18:55.1.
Junior Sebastian Rutherford completed the course in 21:40.2. Rounding out the Wildcat runners was senior Seth Ironchild, who finished the course in 22:59.6. Congratulations, Wildcats on a great season.
For Chinook, senior Landen Beck was the first to cross the finish line with a time of 20:34.3. Freshman Jefferson Nordboe completed the course in 20:54.1. Sophomore Xavier Ymzon was close behind, finishing the course in 20:57.1. Senior Dentin DePriest rounded out the Beeter Boys runners with a time of 24:38.3.
On the girls' side, junior Neva Lowe led the way, earning an 11th place finish and earning All State honors for the second year in a row. Lowe completed the course in 20:05.6. Congrats, Neva, on a great season!
Also shining for the Beeters was senior Alexus Seymour. This season was Seymour's first season in Cross Country and she has performed well all season. Seymour placed 20th at the State meet and finished the course with a time of 20:48.1.
Coach Zellmer was very proud of Lowe and Seymour, "both girls ran this course at the Mountain West Classic back on September 28th, so they had some experience on this course. Neva improved her run on this course by :62 seconds and Alexus by :32 seconds. They really pushed hard this weekend. Finishing 11th and 20th out of 185 runners is incredible."
Coach Zellmer cannot say enough good things about her first group of kids as Head Coach for Chinook, " I am so proud of all our runners this season. They are all such hard workers, and their drive and dedication was evident with the times they put up this season."
There were six Lady Cats who represented Harlem at the State Meet this past weekend. Junior Emma Klingaman led the way for the Lady Cats, finishing the course in 21:56.4.
Senior Aaraya Mount was the next Lady Cat to complete the course with a time of 22:21.3; sophomore Tearia Sunchild finished in 23:34.0; freshman RaMarrah Camel finished in 24:43.8; senior Gracie Sanchez finished in 25:19.0 and Tahilia Walker rounded out the team with a time of 25:55.0.
Hays/Lodge Pole was the sole Blaine County team representing Class C this season. On the girls' side, freshman Ashaunee Horsecapture represented the Thunderbirds, finishing 67th with a time of 28:01.7.
For the boys, four runners represented the Thunderbirds. Junior Axel Swan led the way for the Thunderbirds with a time of 20:11.3. Not too far behind was fellow junior Ethan Russell, who finished in 20:25.0. Sophomore Wamni Williams completed the course in 21:20.5 and freshman Jacob Granados finished in 21:35.4.
