We've Got The County Covered
This week the Chinook Sugarbeeters (7-3) traveled to Missoula to face off against the Valley Christian Eagles (9-1). The 'Beeter boys have had an amazing season, and the first round was nothing short of spectacular.
Amid a cold and rainy field, the 'Beeters Football team wasted no time in pulling ahead in quarter one, round one of the 2024 MHSA Football Champion Series. The Eagles came out onto the field and had a short-lived lead of 3 seven minutes into the game. After shaking off their nerves the 'Beeters were out to ruffle some feathers. In what can only be described as pure athleticism, the 'Beeter boys scored two touchdowns with under a minute left in the first quarter! They led the field into quarter two with a score of 20-3.
With quarter two underway, the 'Beeters secured the playing field and kept the Eagles at bay. With a touchdown counted as no good, the score lit up 26-3 only to be brought back to 20-3. With ferocity, this setback didn't stop the Chinook boys from locking in a valid touchdown with a complete two-point conversion, leaving the first half of the game 28-3.
Six minutes into the third quarter, the Eagles landed a touchdown with a complete two-point conversion, bringing the score 28-11. The momentum was up for the Eagles as they gained footing on the field. With successful attempts, the Valley Eagles flew through the third quarter, attempting to close the gap by 10 points. 28-18
An amazing final quarter was led by the 'Beeters scoring two consecutive touchdowns while the Eagles followed with one. With quarter 4 finished, round one crowned the Chinook Sugarbeeters the winner. A final score 40-24 advances the Chinook Football team to quarter-finals. Round 2 will take place Saturday, November 9 at 1:00PM in Phillipsburg.
Beeter Highlights
• The Beeters racked up 200 yards over the Valley Christian Eagles in the first half of action. The Beeter Defense limited the Eagles to just 65 yards.
• Keeping the momentum going late in the 3rd quarter was sophomore Carter Alisch’s interception at the Eagles 30 yard line.
• Senior Carson Nissen and sophomore Ryan Bell both had a stellar day on the field. Nissen and Bell made two big connections in the first half of the game - a 47 yard touchdown and a 23 yard touchdown. In the final quarter of the game he caught a 21 yard touchdown pass from Bell.
• Senior Landen Beck rushed for 92 yards with one touchdown and a two-point conversion.
