We've Got The County Covered
The Chinook Sugarbeeter volleyball team was back in Bozeman this past weekend competing in the Montana Class B State Volleyball Tournament. The Beeters last competed at the State Tournament in 2022. The All-Class State Volleyball Tournament was played in the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse on the campus of Montana State University.
The Sugarbeeters began tournament play Thursday afternoon when the took on the #2 team out of the West - Anaconda. While the Beeters worked hard for every point and fought til the end, they were unable to come out on top, losing in three.
Friday afternoon the Sugarbeeters took on the Shelby Coyotes in loser out action. The Beeters weren't able to get momentum going in the first two sets, but with their season on the line the Beeters rallied and took set three. The Beeters looked to carry that win into set four, but came up just short, ending their run at the State Tournament.
The Beeters may not have found a win at the tournament, but they should be proud for how much they did accomplish.
Coach Langford is very proud of her team and had a lot of good things to say about them, "Even though the season didn't end quite like we had hoped, I am very proud of the team and their efforts. They set a goal of making it to the state tournament early on and they stopped at nothing to get there. That in itself, is a huge accomplishment. Our senior leadership was a huge part in that. Most of those girls were a part of the team that went in 2022, with Rilee and Addison being key contributors that year. Hannah, Sami & Ashlyn were also there to experience that. It was fun to watch them grow and meet their potential. As a coach, that's all you can ask."
"We didn't come home with a win from the state tournament but we always say "It's never a loss, always a lesson." The knowledge we all gained from this season and the precedent it set for younger players was invaluable. They now know the feeling and what it takes to get to that level. I am very excited for the future of Sugarbeeter volleyball. We will sure miss our seniors but they set the tone for these underclassmen. I'm confident we will have some kids working hard in the off season and ready to set some big goals next year."
