The Book Challenge for December is to read a book published in 2024.

Be sure to stop by the library the evening of the Christmas Jubilee, December 12 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. The Domestic Engineers will be holding a bake sale including hot drinks. Take a photo with Santa! Warm up and visit with friends.

The children’s programs have resumed this week. After School Squad will meet December 11 and 18 at 4 P.M. Lego Club for all ages will be held December 12 and 19 at 4 P.M. Storytime for little ones meets on Tuesday, December 17 at 10 A.M.

Get in the spirit with a book or two from the holiday tree. New titles include “One Big Happy Family” by Susan Mallery, “The Christmas Cottage” by Davis Bunn, and “A Home for the Holidays” by Taylor Hahn.

Liane Moriarty’s new novel is “Here One Moment.” The short domestic flight seems ordinary with no surprises. But almost every passenger will be forever changed. One passenger will become famous as “the Death Lady” and what she does on this flight is truly remarkable. People learn how and when they are going to die.

A mystery by Bruce Borgos is “The Bitter Past.” The quiet life of Sheriff Porter Beck in the high desert of Nevada is interrupted by the murder of on retired FBI agent. Clues at the scene point to a mystery dating back to the early days of the nuclear age and an all-but-forgotten Russian spy.

“When the Jessamine Grows” is by Donna Everhart. In this historical fiction novel, extraordinary Joetta McBride defiantly opens her North Carolina home and farm to soldiers from both sides during the Civil War.

Kat Martin is the author of “Haunted.” It is 1898 and a brutal murder in the copper mining town of Jerome, Arizona, sets the stage for a series of strange events that will echo far into the future. It is 2024 and Jenny Spencer’s Copper Star Saloon and Hotel is a popular tourist attraction in Jerome. But eerie happenings are souring business.
