We've Got The County Covered
The Chinook Sugarbeeters got their 2024-25 season underway this past Friday night in Cut Bank in a conference clash with the Wolves. Leading the Beeters in his second season as Head Coach is Bill Bell.
The Beeters got off to a quick start, taking a 21-11 lead at the end of one quarter of action. Senior Carson Nissen connected from beyond the arc, went 3-3 from the charity stripe and scored eight points in the opening stanza. Sophomores Ryan Bell, Jameson Nordboe and senior Oliver Standiford each added four points. The momentum slowed a bit in the second quarter but the Beeters were able to keep a comfortable lead going into the locker room at the half, 34-18. Bell dropped two three-point bombs for six points, while junior Britt Powell also hit from behind the arc.
The Beeters extended their lead through three quarters of action, giving them a 20 point lead entering the final quarter. Nordboe had six for the quarter while Nissen knocked down his second three of the night. In the final stanza, the Beeters punched on the gas and never looked back, outscoring the Wolves 22-7. Powell tossed in 4 baskets for eight points, Nordboe went 3-4 from the line, Nissen and Sophomore Kolton DePriest each added four points, and sophomore Carter Alisch hit from behind the arc, giving the Beeters a 65-30 season opener victory.
Four Beeters scored double figures on the night. Nissen led the way for the Beeters with 17 points while going 5-5 from the free-throw line. Nordboe added 13, knocking down 3-4 free throws; Powell tossed in 12 points and Bell had 10 points, including two from behind the arc.
The Beeters will travel to Shelby December 13-14 where they will take part in the Shelby Tip-Off Classic.
