Beeters 3-0 to start the Season - Defeat Eureka and Belt

The Chinook Sugarbeeters were in Shelby this past weekend where they took part in Shelby's preseason tournament. The Sugarbeeters took on the Eureka Lions and the Belk Huskies.

On Friday, the Sugarbeeters took a 16-8 lead after 8 minutes of action against the Lions. Alexus Seymour tallied six points, and Brooke Fetter added five. The Sugarbeeters kept their foot on the gas in the second quarter, extending their lead to 39-19 at the half. Seymour was firing on all cylinders, scoring 13 points in the second quarter.

Chinook's intensity didn't change as they started the third quarter as they outscored the Lions 22-7 to start the second half. Seymour added 11 more points to her total for the night.

Hannah Schoen added eight points in the final quarter to help the Sugarbeeters coast to a 73-31 victory over the Eureka Lions. Seymour led the charge for the Sugarbeeters, tallying 30 points on the night, as well as 11 steals and four assists. Schoen flipped in 11 points for the Beeters while grabbing six rebounds. Gracie Skoyen led the team in rebounds with 7. Addison Olsen also had 6 rebounds and five steals for the Beeters. As a team, the Sugarbeeters had 29 steals.

Saturday night, the Sugarbeeters took on the Belt Huskies. Like the night before, the Sugarbeeters jumped out to a 16-7 lead to start the contest. Seymour and Fetter each scored four, while Skoyen and Schoen each added three. The Sugarbeeters continued to increase the lead in the second quarter, increasing the gap to 32-17 going into the locker room. Seymour tacked on eight more points and Fetter added seven.

The Huskies clawed their way back in the second half, outscoring the Sugarbeeters 28-27, but the Sugarbeeter's strong first half helped them earn the win against the Huskies.

Seymour, again, led the Sugarbeeters in scoring, tossing up 24 points, as well as five steals and six assists. Seymour had 54 points over the weekend, 16 steals and 10 assists, helping her team stay undefeated to start the season. Fetter added 13 for the Sugarbeeters. Schoen controlled the boards, grabbing 9 rebounds, while also dishing out three assists. The Sugarbeeters shot 57% from the field against the Huskies.

The Beeters will be home for the first time this season in a non-conference game against the Fort Benton Longhorns on Thursday, December 19. They will head to Shelby on Saturday to take on the Coyotes in a 1B conference matchup.
