Harlem Public Library to Host Virtual Program "Preserving Montana's Oral Histories and Traditions"

The Harlem Public Library and Montana Library Network will host the virtual program "Preserving Montana's Oral Histories and Traditions" January 16, 2025, at 6:30 P.M. in the library meeting room.

This program trains interested participants how to interview, collect and archive oral histories in their communities. Leading the program will be Jennifer Birnel, Director of the Montana History Portal for the Montana State Library. Candi Zion who is the author of "Winifred Oral History Project", "In Between People: The Metis of Central Montana", and "Walking Down the Middle: The Hi-Line Metis", will instruct attendees how to pick subject matter, find interviewees, ask the correct questions, and transcribe interviews.
