Blaine County Sports Highlights

Can you believe we're in the final stretches of winter sports!

Beeters, Wildcats, Tornadoes, and Thunderbirds all fought hard this weekend. Many thanks to our coaches that build a better team and shape young people every time they execute a play!

Beeter wrestlers braved the cold and found their way to the mats in Forsyth and Miles City. Coach Stroh took time out of his schedule to share some highlights with BCJ. "We wrestled hard this weekend." Julian Powell knocked off Montana's #2 ranked wrestler in the state at the Forsyth mixer. Julian's victory over the 215 pounder solidifies Beeter upcoming Divisional seating criteria. The Miles City tournament was one of the year's toughest with top-ranked Montana and Wyoming grapplers battling. The boys were only a few matches shy of the podium. As usual, the Beeter gals were consistent. Grace brought home a 3rd place win while Lynley and Bailey ranked 5th and 8th among the tough competition. "I think this weekend showed that we only need to make a few adjustments to move up the podium at Divisionals and State."

Meanwhile, on the courts in Conrad, Beeters boys opened the action with a strong start. They finished the first quarter ahead of the Cowboys 14-9. Chinook maintained the lead through halftime with a 24-20 advantage. The momentum continued for the boys and the Cowboys struggled to close the gap. The Beeter boys brought home a 47-39 victory with Carson Nissen delivering 16 points.

The Lady Beeters simply dominated! They commanded a 23-2 lead in the first quarter and left the court at halftime with a staggering 52-3 advantage. Conrad's only points in the first half came from the free-throw line. With a running clock implemented in the third quarter, coach Seymour utilized the opportunity to rotate his bench. Chinook held a 63-7 lead at the end of the third and coasted to a decisive 72-17 victory over the Cowgirls. Three Lady Beeters reached double digits in scoring, led by Alexis Seymour with 15 points. Brooke Fetter and Hannah Schoen each contributed 11 points to the win!

The Tornadoes are playing well this year. The girls secured a 57-46 win over North Star and the boys did likewise, with a 54-point win over North Star's 29. Tate Beck and Caleb Zellmer were high points with 15 points and 17 points respectively
