On February 4, the Chinook FFA Chapter traveled to Havre, Montana, for the spring Milk River District Competition. The event was held at the Fifth Avenue Christian Church where the membership competed in Agricultural Sales, FFA Creed Speaking, Star Greenhand, and Extemporaneous Speaking. Several members brought home hardware and satin, testifying to their ability.
The Chapter fielded two teams in the Agricultural Sales Career Development Event (CDE), one senior division and one junior division. The senior team comprised of Brockton Elliot, Carter Rayburn, Bryce Elliot, and Zoe Scofield placed second overall, making them eligible to compete at state. Individually, Zoe Scofield earned fifth, Bryce Elliot captured seventh, and Brockton Elliot edged into the top ten at tenth place.
Contestants in the junior division for Ag Sales were Piper Skoyen, Wacee Simenson, Dane Frey-Haluszka, and Megan Flanagan. This group placed fifth as a team, a standing which also certifies them for state competition. Additionally, Megan Flanagan placed second as an individual competitor.
In the FFA Creed Speaking Leadership Development Event (LDE), two members qualified to compete at state: Megan Flanagan, who achieved first place, and Bryce Elliot, who placed second. These two competitors won additional awards at the event, which saw Flanagan secure another first place in Extemporaneous Speaking LDE. Given that win, she will compete at State Convention in that event, as well. Additionally, Bryce Elliot took first place in the Star Greenhand competition, earning the chance to represent the Milk River District at State. For Star Greenhand, only the top performer in each district can compete in the state competition.
Other schools that brought teams to Spring Districts included Turner, Havre, Big Sandy, CJI, Malta, and Fort Benton. The next competition for FFA members is the 2025 Montana State FFA Convention, which will be held in Bozeman from April 1–5. The Montana FFA Foundation describes the convention as "a dynamic atmosphere where over 2,000 FFA members, dedicated teachers, passionate alumni, and supportive advocates will converge from every corner of Montana."
