Debbie Chapman Olson passed away on March 12, 2025, in Havre, Montana. Born on December 24, 1955, to Melvin and Lona (Brinkman) Chapman, Debbie's roots ran deep in the community.
Debbie attended school in Chinook, Montana where she was a dedicated athlete, playing varsity basketball for four years. She also participated in high school track and summer softball, demonstrating a lifelong passion for sports and teamwork.
Throughout her career, Debbie made a profound impact on the lives of children with special needs. In recognition of her dedication and contributions at the Intermountain Children's Home, she was honored with the Governor's First Lady's Award in 2000. This award reflected her unwavering commitment to improving the lives of Montana's children. Debbie continued this commitment to students with her many years working at Chinook High School.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Lona Chapman; her sister and brother-in-law, Marilee and Ron Johnson; and her nephew, Ronald Dean Johnson. She is survived by her sisters Margaret Chapman and Marlene Young; her brother Derryl (Judy) Chapman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish her memory.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Roxanne and Terry Townsend, Doug Mosser, Darryl, Maloney, and Jim Young for their support and comfort during Debbie's stay in the hospital. Their kindness and generosity was touching, especially during her final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Chinook Senior Center in Debbie's honor.
A proud "Sugar Beeter Forever," Debbie carried the spirit of Chinook throughout her life.
